Janome MC6650: a spacious flat bed for sewing and quilting
The Memory Craft 6650 gives you 255 mm of space to the right of the needle and a seamless metal flat bed. Spread out garment pieces and quilt layers while you sew. Its 170 built-in stitches, nine one-step buttonholes and block lettering provide choices for practical and decorative work.
The automatic thread cutter, Superior Needle Threader and independent bobbin-winding motor help with preparation and finishing. Save favourite stitch settings and combinations so they are ready for your next project.

Give larger pieces room to move
The workspace measures 255 × 120 mm. The continuous flat surface supports fabric around the needle, while the aluminium construction provides a solid foundation for sewing. LED lights in three locations illuminate the working area.
This is a flat-bed machine. It does not convert to a free arm. An optional extension table adds support for larger projects.
Set a comfortable sewing pace
Use the speed slider to set your pace, up to 1,000 stitches per minute. Sew with the foot control or use the start/stop button. Memorised needle up/down helps you stop with the needle positioned for turning corners or removing fabric.
Reverse and auto-lock controls help secure suitable stitches. The automatic cutter trims both the needle and bobbin threads. Programme automatic cutting when you want it at the end of your sewing sequence.
Adjust stitches and save your favourites
Choose stitches with the direct selection keys, reference chart and LCD. Adjust suitable patterns up to 9 mm wide and 5 mm long. Save edited stitch settings as favourites and customise the direct selection screen.
Mirror suitable decorative patterns and elongate selected satin stitches up to five times. Edit individual stitches within a combination. Store up to 20 stitch combinations for later projects and use block lettering for names or quilt labels.
Change plates for different sewing tasks
The standard and straight-stitch needle plates are included. Press the release button to remove a plate, then snap the replacement into place. The straight-stitch plate supports fabric close to the needle.
Choose an allowed stitch and needle position for the fitted plate. Plate guides help with seam placement. The professional-grade HP plate and HP foot are separate optional accessories.
Prepare thread and manage fabric
The Superior Needle Threader helps guide thread through the needle eye. The top-loading Easy Set bobbin follows a marked threading path. A separate motor powers the bobbin winder, and the stopper controls when winding finishes.
Adjust foot pressure with the dial and visible gauge. Set thread tension for the fabric and thread. The extra-high foot lift helps when positioning thicker layers. Test seams on matching fabric before starting your project.
Explore quilting and personal settings
Lower the feed dogs and fit the included free-motion equipment for darning or free-motion quilting. Choose a suitable needle and practise your hand movement on a sample quilt sandwich.
The set menu lets you adjust preferences such as sound and needle stop position. Resume settings help you return to sewing. The dust cover protects the machine during storage.

Questions about the Janome MC6650
What projects suit the MC6650?
Its larger flat surface suits quilting, garment construction and decorative sewing. The stitch range and lettering help with finishing and personal details. Ask our friendly team about the materials and projects you want to make.
How does it differ from the MC6700P?
The MC6650 has 170 stitches and a maximum speed of 1,000 stitches per minute. The MC6700P has 200 stitches, a higher straight-stitch speed and AcuFeed Flex. Their standard accessory packages also differ. Compare the features and supplied equipment that matter for your projects.
Does the MC6650 have AcuFeed Flex?
No. Use a suitable optional even-feed foot when your project needs that type of feeding. The included convertible free-motion equipment supports other quilting techniques.
Does it have a free arm?
No. The MC6650 has a seamless flat bed. It provides a continuous working surface rather than a narrow arm for sleeves and cuffs.
Is it a high-shank machine?
Yes. Choose accessories intended for its 9 mm high-shank system. Ask our friendly team to check the part you need against the MC6650 before ordering.
Is the extension table included?
The standard package has no extension table. A suitable optional table adds support for larger pieces. Check the current package and any separately advertised store offers before ordering.
Can I sew names and save stitch combinations?
Yes. Block lettering can stitch names and labels, and memory stores up to 20 stitch combinations. This is lettering sewn with the sewing foot rather than hoop embroidery.
Does the cutter trim both threads?
Yes. It trims the needle and bobbin threads. Use the cutter button or the appropriate automatic cutting setting for your sewing.
What should I check if stitches become uneven?
Check the needle, upper threading and bobbin placement. Test pressure, tension and stitch settings on the same fabric layers. Contact our friendly team if the problem continues.
Where can I find operating instructions?
The instruction book and DVD are included in the standard package. You can also view the official MC6650 instruction book and read the Australian brochure.
