Elna 1000: straightforward sewing, mending and making
The Elna 1000 is a mechanical sewing machine with 13 stitches, including a four-step buttonhole. Select stitches with the front dial and use the stitch chart to find the pattern you need. It is a practical choice for learning everyday sewing, making garments and handling occasional repairs.
The front-loading bobbin system, free arm and manual tension controls keep the essentials within reach. Your ElnaDirect package includes four bobbins, four sewing feet, a darning plate, tools and a dust cover.
Choose your stitch and seam finish
Use straight stitches for seams, zigzag for edge finishing and the stretch-stitch patterns for suitable knit fabrics. Stitch length adjusts up to 4 mm, with zigzag widths up to 5 mm. The front chart shows the available patterns.
The four-step buttonhole lets you sew each side and end in sequence. Use the sliding buttonhole foot and test the length on a matching offcut. The reverse lever helps secure the ends of your seams.
Control the pace and setup
The foot control lets you sew at your own pace, up to 860 stitches per minute. Adjust thread tension manually for your needle, thread and fabric. The sewing light illuminates the needle area, and the needle plate has metric and imperial seam guides.
Choose the right needle for each project and test the seam before starting. Sew slowly at thicker joins and avoid forcing fabric through. A built-in manual cutter trims threads after sewing.
Load the bobbin and change feet
The bobbin sits in a removable case at the front of the machine. The push-pull bobbin winder helps you prepare thread for your project. Two retractable vertical spool pins hold your thread.
Clip-on presser feet make technique changes straightforward. The extra-high presser-foot lift gives more clearance when positioning fabric. The supplied zipper and blind-hem feet help with garment finishing.
Reach smaller garment openings
Remove the accessory compartment to use the free arm for sleeves and trouser hems. Refit it for flat sewing and store small tools inside the compartment.
For darning or other free-motion techniques, the darning plate covers the feed dogs. The feed dogs do not lower. Remove the plate before returning to normal sewing. The folding handle and included dust cover help with carrying and storage.

How many stitches and buttonholes does it have?
It has 13 built-in stitches, including one four-step buttonhole. You select each buttonhole stage with the dial and sew it using the sliding buttonhole foot.
Does it have drop feed?
No. It uses a darning plate to cover the feed dogs for free-motion techniques. The feed dogs stay in place underneath. Remove the plate before sewing normal seams.
How many bobbins are included?
Your ElnaDirect package includes four plastic bobbins. It also includes the sewing feet, darning plate, needles, tools, foot control, dust cover and manual listed above.
How do I thread the Elna 1000?
Raise the presser foot and bring the take-up lever to its highest position. Follow the upper-thread path in the supplied manual. Load the front bobbin case as directed, then bring the bobbin thread up before starting a seam.
Can it sew denim and stretch fabrics?
It can sew suitable domestic projects in denim and knit fabrics. Match the needle and stitch to the fabric, test the layers and sew slowly over bulky joins. Thick seam stacks may exceed the machine’s practical capacity.
Is a hard cover included?
