Useful for straight stitching

The smaller needle opening helps support fine fabric close to the stitch. Use only a supported straight stitch and needle position. Check the opening against the selected needle position before sewing.

Other plate types

Use the appropriate zigzag plate for stitches that move the needle sideways. Select a stitch and plate combination allowed by your machine instructions.

Before you sew

Disconnect the machine or use its prescribed lockout setting before changing the plate. Follow the machine instructions and check that the plate is seated securely.

Turn the handwheel gently to check clearance, then test on a scrap. If the original plate has been struck by a needle, check the needle and setup before continuing.
