Janome 4300QDC: sew garments, quilt and add decorative detail
The Janome 4300QDC gives you 300 built-in stitches, including 12 automatic buttonholes, plus an English block alphabet and symbols. Use everyday stitches for seams and hems, or explore appliqué, decorative borders, patchwork and lettering.
The included wide extension table supports larger pieces. An open-toe walking foot with quilting guide, a quarter-inch foot and a range of garment-sewing feet give you useful tools for different projects. An automatic thread cutter and controls within easy reach help you move between seams.
Find and personalise your stitches
The LCD shows the selected stitch and sewing information. Ten direct-selection buttons help you find everyday stitches, while the detachable chart makes the full range easy to check. Flip the chart to view both sides and fold it behind the machine when you finish.
Program combinations of up to 50 patterns. Mirror eligible stitches, or elongate selected satin stitches up to five times their normal length. Add letters and symbols for labels, names and decorative details.
Make buttonholes for your garments
Choose from 12 automatic sensor buttonhole styles, including square, rounded and keyhole designs. Place the button in the sliding gauge on foot R to set the size. Test the buttonhole on a sample with the same fabric and interfacing as your garment.
Stitch width adjusts up to 7 mm and length up to 5 mm. The zipper, blind-hemming and overedge feet help with other finishing tasks. Use the appropriate foot and settings for your selected stitch.
Control your sewing pace and seam finish
Limit the maximum speed with the speed slider. Sew with the foot control, or disconnect it and use the start/stop button. The needle up/down button helps you stop with the needle in position for a turn. Reverse and lock-off controls secure your stitching.
Press the scissors button to cut the upper and bobbin threads after sewing. A manual cutter is also available for thick or specialised threads. The one-hand needle threader assists with threading, and wide-angle LED lighting illuminates the sewing area.
Support fabric as you sew and quilt
The Superior Plus Feed System uses seven-piece feed dogs with a flat feeding action. Adjust the six-level foot-pressure dial to suit the fabric. The top-loading bobbin is easy to access, and the machine can sew at speeds up to 820 stitches per minute.
Fit the wide extension table for extra support. Use the quarter-inch foot for patchwork and the walking foot to help feed quilt layers together. Lower the feed dogs for free-motion work with a suitable optional darning foot. Remove the accessory compartment to expose the free arm for sleeves and cuffs.

Frequently asked questions
Is the 4300QDC suitable for dressmaking and quilting?
Yes. It has everyday and decorative stitches, 12 buttonhole styles and useful garment-sewing feet. The extension table, quarter-inch foot and walking foot support patchwork and quilting. Choose suitable needles, thread and settings, and test on the same layers as your project.
Can it sew names and embroidery designs?
It can sew the built-in alphabet and symbols along a stitched line. You can also combine decorative stitch patterns. It does not use embroidery hoops or imported embroidery files. Choose a dedicated embroidery machine if you want to stitch those designs.
Does the thread cutter cut both threads?
Yes. Press the scissors button after sewing to cut the upper and bobbin threads. For thick or specialised threads, follow the manual’s guidance and use the manual cutter when required.
Can I sew without the foot pedal?
Yes. Disconnect the foot control and use the start/stop button. The speed slider sets your maximum sewing speed. The supplied foot control is available when you prefer pedal-operated sewing.
Are the extension table and magnifiers included?
The wide extension table is included. The optic magnifier lenses are sold separately. An open-toe walking foot with quilting guide and the other feet listed above are included in the package.
Can I use a twin needle?
Yes. Use a suitable twin needle, thread the machine as directed and select twin-needle mode for an allowed stitch. Follow the manual’s limits for needle size and stitch selection before sewing.
Where can I find the stitches and operating instructions?
Read Janome’s Australian 4300QDC brochure. The supplied instruction book explains threading, buttonholes, stitch combinations and care. The detachable chart helps you find stitches while sewing.
