Janome DC1000: compact sewing with useful everyday features
The Janome DC1000 is a lightweight computerised sewing machine for everyday sewing, repairs and creative projects. Its 30 built-in stitches cover practical seams, stretch sewing and decorative finishes. At 5 kg, it is easy to carry to a class or put away between projects.
A built-in needle threader, clear LCD screen and top-loading bobbin make setting up straightforward. You control sewing speed with the supplied foot pedal.
Choose the stitch for your project
Use straight and zigzag stitches for everyday seams and repairs. Stretch stitches help with knit fabrics. Blind-hem, satin, appliqué and decorative stitches give you more ways to finish garments and add detail.
Adjust stitch width and length to suit the job. The memory buttonhole lets you make and repeat a buttonhole through its programmed sequence.
Keep sewing comfortable
The LED light illuminates the needle area. A clear bobbin cover lets you see the thread supply, while the built-in threader helps you thread the needle. The side-mounted cutter trims threads by hand after sewing.
Use the needle up/down button when turning a corner. The lock-off and reverse buttons help secure your stitching. Presser-foot pressure is fixed.
Sew sleeves, hems and smaller pieces
Remove the accessory compartment to use the free arm for tubular items such as sleeves and trouser hems. The compartment keeps small sewing tools close at hand.
The drop-feed control lowers the feed dogs for free-motion work. Add a suitable free-motion foot for this technique. The DC1000 has 158.5 mm of space to the right of the needle, so consider the size of your quilting projects when choosing a machine.
Take it to class
A folding carry handle and compact body make this a practical machine for shared spaces and sewing classes. Its die-cast aluminium frame supports the working parts. The supplied dust cover protects it while stored; it is not a hard carry case.

Is the DC1000 suitable for a beginner?
Yes. Its practical stitch selection, built-in threader and visible bobbin supply are useful for learning everyday sewing. You can move on to stretch stitches, decorative work and buttonholes without changing machines.
Can I sew without using the foot pedal?
No. The DC1000 uses its supplied foot control to sew and regulate speed. It has no start/stop button or speed-control slider.
Can I use it for quilting?
Yes. Use it for piecing, and lower the feed dogs for free-motion work with a suitable optional foot. The compact workspace is best considered alongside the size of the quilts you plan to make.
Can I adjust the presser-foot pressure?
No. Foot pressure is fixed. If you often sew difficult fabrics or bulky projects, contact our friendly team to discuss a machine suited to that work.
Does it cut threads automatically?
No. It has a manual thread cutter on the side. Draw the threads across the cutter when you finish sewing.
Is a hard cover or extension table included?
A dust cover is included. A hard cover and extension table are not part of the standard package.
