Janome DC2050: practical controls for garments, repairs and creative sewing
The Janome DC2050 gives you 50 built-in stitches and three automatic one-step buttonholes in a compact computerised machine. Sew everyday seams, finish hems and add decorative detail, with a backlit LCD to show your stitch settings.
Useful controls sit within easy reach. Set your sewing pace with the speed slider, position the needle at the touch of a button and secure the end of a seam with the lock-off button. A soft dust cover is included for storage between projects.
Choose stitches for your project
The front stitch chart groups the options so you can find everyday, hemming, decorative and heirloom stitches. Select a stitch with the buttons and adjust its width and length on the LCD.
Stitch width adjusts up to 7 mm and stitch length up to 5 mm. Adjustable needle positions help you place a straight seam where you need it.
Make buttonholes to match your buttons
Choose from three one-step buttonhole styles, including a keyhole buttonhole. Place your button in the automatic buttonhole foot to set the size, then follow the machine’s buttonhole sequence. This is useful for shirts, dresses and other buttoned projects.
The supplied zipper and satin-stitch feet also give you tools for inserting zips and adding decorative stitching.
Sew at a comfortable pace
The speed slider limits the maximum speed. Use the included foot control, or sew with the start/stop button. The needle up/down button helps you pivot at corners. Reverse and lock-off controls secure your stitching.
The LED light illuminates the work area. A built-in needle threader helps with threading, and the manual cutter on the side trims the threads after sewing.
Work on small pieces and larger fabric
The top-loading bobbin is easy to access. Seven-piece feed dogs move the fabric through the machine, while guide markings on the needle plate help you follow a seam allowance. The clear bobbin cover lets you check the remaining thread supply.
Remove the accessory compartment to expose the free arm for sleeves and trouser hems. Lower the feed dogs for free-motion techniques with a suitable optional foot. An extension table is available separately.

Is the DC2050 suitable for learning to sew?
Yes. Its stitch chart, backlit display, needle threader and speed slider help with everyday sewing tasks. The stitch selection also gives you room to explore decorative work and buttonholes as your skills grow.
Can I sew without the foot pedal?
Yes. Use the start/stop button and speed slider. A foot control is included if you prefer pedal-operated sewing.
Is an extension table included?
No. The standard package includes a soft dust cover, but the extension table is an optional accessory sold separately.
Can I use the DC2050 for quilting?
Yes. It can sew patchwork seams. Lower the feed dogs and fit a suitable optional free-motion foot for free-motion work. Choose optional quilting feet for a 7 mm low-shank machine.
Does it cut threads automatically?
No. Use the manual cutter on the side of the machine after sewing.
Can I adjust the presser-foot pressure?
No. The pressure is fixed. If adjustable pressure is a priority for your fabrics, our friendly team can help you compare suitable models.
