Janome CoverPro 3000P: finish hems on your handmade garments
The Janome CoverPro 3000P makes cover hems, top cover stitches and chain stitches. Use it for T-shirt hems, sleeves and other garment finishes. Two or three needles create parallel rows of straight stitching on top, with looper thread covering the underside.
Add a decorative thread across the top with the built-in top cover guide and spreader. Choose a narrow or wide cover hem, or use one needle for chain stitching. Differential feed, adjustable foot pressure and manual tension controls help you set the finish for your fabric. The free arm gives you easier access to tubular pieces such as sleeves and trouser legs.
Choose your cover stitch finish
Use two needles for a 3 mm narrow cover stitch or a 6 mm wide cover stitch. Three needles make a 6 mm triple cover stitch, with three evenly spaced rows across the top. The built-in top cover guide and spreader add a covering thread across the top when you select a top cover stitch. Use two needles for narrow or wide top cover stitching, or three needles for a triple top cover stitch. The machine uses up to five threads.
For chain stitch, use one needle and two threads. This gives you another seam or decorative stitching option. Follow the instruction book for the needle positions, threading and settings for each stitch.
Fine-tune the seam for your fabric
The enhanced Tension Level Control (TLC) helps you adjust thread tension for different fabrics. Set the Fine Mode lever to FINE for lightweight stretch fabrics, or STD for standard sewing. Use the manual’s recommended settings as a starting point, then test the finish on your project fabric.
Differential feed adjusts from 0.5 to 2.25. It helps control stretched or puckered edges. Stitch length adjusts from 1 to 4 mm, and the presser-foot pressure can be adjusted for the fabric you are sewing.
Reach sleeves, cuffs and larger pieces
Slide off the detachable sewing table to expose the free arm. It helps you work around sleeves, cuffs and other tubular sections. The workspace to the right of the needle measures 143 mm wide by 100 mm high.
LED lighting illuminates the sewing area from three locations, including the retractable HighLight above the needle area. Pull out the extra light when you want a closer view of the stitch formation. A carry handle helps with moving the 8.6 kg machine, and a soft dust cover protects it between projects.
Follow the guides for threading
The colour-coded paths and quick reference chart guide you through threading. Open the looper area for access, thread the looper in its released position and return it to the sewing position as directed in the manual.
Lift the presser foot to release the thread tensions. The built-in needle threader has a slider to select the left, middle or right needle. A separate handheld threader with needle holder is also included. Use ELx705 needles, set the required tensions and sew a sample before starting your garment. The foot control operates the machine at speeds up to 1,000 stitches per minute.

What can I sew with the CoverPro 3000P?
Use it for cover hems on T-shirts, sleeves and other garments, or for chain stitching. Its feed and tension controls help you adjust the finish for different fabrics. Test the stitch on a sample with the same fabric and layers as your project.
Does it replace an overlocker?
No. It makes coverstitch and chain stitch without trimming the fabric edge. An overlocker joins and finishes raw edges with overlocking stitches. The two machines serve different purposes and work well alongside a regular sewing machine.
What does top cover stitching add?
The extra thread covers the top of the stitch as well as the looper finish underneath. It gives hems and decorative seams a different appearance, often used on activewear. Use the built-in top cover guide and spreader, with the threading and stitch setup in the instruction book.
What helps when sewing stretchy fabric?
Adjust the differential feed to help the fabric lie flat. Use the recommended needles, threading and tension settings, then test the seam. Avoid pulling the fabric as it feeds through the machine.
How does the 3000P differ from the 2000CPX?
Both make chain stitches and double or triple cover stitches. The 3000P adds top cover stitching, a built-in needle threader, a Fine Mode switch and extra lighting, including the retractable HighLight. These additions help with setup and give you more finishing options.
Are a binder and extension table included?
No. They are optional accessories sold separately. The standard package includes the fitted foot, threading tools, needles, attachment screws, accessory box, foot control, instruction book and soft dust cover listed above.
