Elna Star: compact computerised sewing for home and classes
The Elna Star brings useful sewing controls into a compact machine. Choose from 20 stitches, including two automatic one-step buttonholes, for everyday seams, hems and decorative details. Its carrying handle and approximately 5.5 kg weight make it a practical choice for taking to classes or sewing away from home.
The LCD shows the stitch number, width and length. Speed control, needle up/down and lock-stitch buttons help you manage your sewing. Five feet and a soft dust cover are included, along with the tools and accessories listed below.

Choose and adjust your stitches
The stitch library gives you a clear view of the available patterns. Four selection keys help you choose a stitch, and the display shows its settings. Adjust stitch width up to 5 mm and length up to 4 mm with the control dials.
Use the automatic buttonhole foot to set the buttonhole size from your button. Make a sample on the same fabric and interfacing before stitching the garment. The satin-stitch, overlock and zipper feet support other finishing techniques.
Sew at a comfortable pace
Use the speed-control lever to limit the sewing speed. Sew with the supplied electronic foot control or use the start/stop button. The needle up/down key helps you stop with the needle positioned for a turn.
Reverse and automatic lock-stitch controls secure the ends of your sewing. The built-in needle threader helps with setup, and the manual thread cutter trims the threads after sewing.
Keep threading and fabric feed in view
The top-loading rotary hook has a transparent bobbin cover, so you can check the remaining thread. The automatic declutch bobbin winder and horizontal spool pin help with preparation. Adjust the thread-tension dial to suit your stitch and fabric.
The four-piece feed dog moves fabric under the foot. Choose suitable needles and thread, test on an offcut and let the machine feed the fabric. Work slowly across bulky joins rather than forcing the fabric through.
Work on sleeves and small projects
Slide off the accessory compartment to expose the free arm for sleeves, trouser hems and other tubular pieces. Lower the feed dogs for free-motion techniques with an appropriate optional foot.
The built-in compartment keeps small accessories together. Pack the machine securely when travelling and set it on a stable table before sewing. The included soft dust cover protects it between projects.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Elna Star suitable for a beginner?
Its clear stitch display, needle threader and speed control help with everyday sewing tasks. The stitch selection covers useful seams and finishes without a large menu to learn. Practise threading and stitch settings on scraps, using the instruction book as your guide.
Is it easy to take to sewing classes?
Its compact format, carry handle and approximate 5.5 kg weight make it useful for classes and travelling. Use a suitable protective bag for transport and a stable work surface at your destination.
Can I sew without the foot pedal?
Yes. Use the start/stop button and speed control, following the instruction book’s setup. The electronic foot control is included if you prefer pedal-operated sewing.
Does it cut the threads automatically?
No. Use the manual cutter after sewing. The lock-stitch button secures your stitching; it does not cut the threads.
What comes with the machine?
Five feet, three bobbins, needles, spool accessories, a screwdriver, seam ripper, foot control, power cable, instruction book and soft dust cover are included. The full package is listed above. Optional specialist feet and a carrying bag are sold separately.
Can I use it for quilting?
It can sew patchwork seams. For free-motion work, lower the feed dogs and use an appropriate optional darning foot. Its compact workspace suits smaller pieces; ask our team about a larger machine if you regularly handle large quilts.
Where can I find more information?
Read Elna’s Star brochure. The supplied instruction book covers threading, stitch settings and care.
