Janome DC1030: compact sewing with convenient controls
The Janome DC1030 is a 5 kg computerised sewing machine for everyday sewing, repairs and creative projects. Its 30 built-in stitches include practical and decorative options, plus a memory buttonhole. A compact body makes it useful for classes or a sewing space that needs to be packed away.
A built-in threader helps you thread the needle. The LCD shows your selected stitch, and the speed slider lets you set a comfortable pace. Sew with the supplied foot control or use the start/stop button.
Select a stitch and adjust the settings
The front stitch chart keeps the options in view. Choose your stitch, then use the display modes to check its number, width and length. The machine selects default settings, which you can adjust for your project.
Stitch width adjusts up to 5 mm and length up to 4 mm. Use practical seams for repairs and garments, or explore decorative and appliqué stitching.
Stay in control of the sewing pace
The speed slider works when sewing with or without the foot control. Use a slower setting for careful work, then increase it for a longer seam. Maximum speed is 820 stitches per minute.
Reverse and lock-off buttons secure your stitches. The needle up/down button helps when turning a corner or repositioning the fabric.
Keep setup straightforward
The top-loading bobbin is easy to reach. LED lighting illuminates the sewing area, while the built-in threader helps with the needle. A manual cutter on the side trims threads after sewing.
The needle plate has guide markings to help you follow seam allowances. The metal foot holder and die-cast aluminium frame support the working parts.
Reach sleeves and explore free-motion work
Remove the accessory compartment to expose the free arm for sleeves, trouser hems and other tubular pieces. The compartment stores small sewing tools. A folding handle makes the machine easy to carry.
Lower the feed dogs for free-motion work and fit a suitable optional foot for that technique. The DC1030 provides 158.5 mm of space to the right of the needle.

Is the DC1030 suitable for a beginner?

How does the DC1030 differ from the DC1000?
Both have 30 stitches and a compact 5 kg body. The DC1030 adds a start/stop button and speed slider, so you can sew without the foot pedal. The DC1000 uses its foot control to sew and regulate speed.
Is the buttonhole fully automatic in one step?
The DC1030 uses a memory buttonhole with the sliding J foot. Follow the instruction book to sew and memorise the buttonhole sequence. It is different from an automatic buttonhole foot that sizes the hole from a button placed in the foot.
Is a hard cover or extension table included?
A dust cover is included. A hard cover and extension table are not in the standard package.
Can I use it for quilting?
Yes. It can sew patchwork seams. Lower the feed dogs and fit a suitable optional free-motion foot for free-motion work. Consider the compact workspace when planning larger quilts.
Can I adjust the presser-foot pressure?
No. The pressure is fixed. If that adjustment is important for your fabrics, contact our friendly team to compare suitable models.
